Global Modernism and the Indian Progressives
"Global Modernism and the Indian Progressives" investigates the "radical" modernist artwork produced in India between the 1940's and the 1980's. Presented for the first time in the United States, these 80 paintings are some of the crucial works of the Progressive Artsist group -- a collective formed within months of India winning its freedom from colonial rule. This decisive era witnessed the demise of the British Empire and the rise of independent India, a nation that has emerged as a powerful player on the global scene in the 21st century.

Enormously grateful to ASI
We are enormously grateful to ASI for the care and trouble that was taken over the loan exhibitions from Burghley House to The United States. It is not an exaggeration to say that ASI was responsible for a complete turn around in Burghley’s fortunes as a time when we despaired of the future of the many fine collections of works of art in the house. We certainly could not have guessed that, with the help of ASI, our treasures would be seen by so many appreciative people throughout America and that the Burghley name would become so well know.
Lady Victoria Leatham, Daughter of the 6th Marquess of Exeter, Director of the Burghley Family Trust

It was a beautifully assembled exhibition and we were very privileged to show it.
The Center has been enormously gratified by the extremely warm reception the exhibition [Paintings from the Reign of Victoria: The Royal Holloway Collection, London] received throughout the university community, in the press, and from our many visitors. I am writing to thank you very much indeed for making the project possible in the first place by including us in the Royal Holloway Collection’s tour of the United States. It was a beautifully assembled exhibition and we were very privileged to show it.

The book is certainly one of the most striking art books that we have seen
One of the most beautiful books to have come to our attention recently is MURAQQA’, a catalogue of Mughal art with extraordinary reproductions. This catalogue accompanies a show that just opened at the Sackler Gallery this year.… The book is certainly one of the most striking art books that we have seen.
